Elliott Sadler wins NASCAR Nationwide race in Phoenix

Following a wild Daytona opener that saw James Buescher walk away with his first NASCAR trophy, the Nationwide Series returns to more traditional racing today at Phoenix International Raceway.

When Sam Hornish won at Phoenix last November, he went from struggling part-timer to future Nationwide Series contender. The win confirmed that Hornish could hang with NASCAR's best, prompting Roger Penske to confirm that his driver would run for the Nationwide Series crown in 2012If you're one of the 88,000 people who follow NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace on Twitter, you know he's in a difficult sponsorship situation.

Wallace tweeted this week his future is in doubt due to a lack of funding at the RAB Racing team in the Nationwide Series. The driver has essentially begged for a company to support his efforts to keep racing.Reporting from Avondale, Ariz. -- Elliott Sadler passed Brad Keselowski with 26 laps left and held on to win the NASCAR Nationwide Series race Saturday at Phoenix International Raceway.

Keselowski finished second in the mostly accident-free Bashas' Supermarkets 200 and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was third.

It was Sadler's first victory in a national NASCAR event since he won a truck-series race in 2010.

Sadler, 36, last won in NASCAR's premier Sprint Cup Series race in 2004 and his last win in the second-tier Nationwide Series was in 1998.When the drivers pulled to a stop after a massive fireball engulfed a safety truck and delayed the Daytona 500, Brad Keselowski reached into the pocket of his fire suit and pulled out his phone.

Trying to kill time while fire and foam covered the track, Keselowski started tweeting from his car, providing updates from the track, posting pictures, even answering questions from fans.
