WEST BROM VS CHELSEA 1-0 HIGHLIGHTS 3/3/2012 HD

West Brom have moved into the top half of the table following their first Premier League win over Chelsea thanks to Gareth McAuley’s late effort at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

West Brom had the better of the first-half as they continuously pressed high up the pitch, affording Chelsea next to no time on the ball, but the visitors were holding firm and Petr Cech was on form. The pressure on Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas continued to mount this afternoon following his side's 1-0 defeat away at West Bromwich Albion.

Visiting Chelsea created the better of the chances in the opening 45 minutes, but they were unable to breach Ben Foster's net.

First Juan Mata was denied by the England international, then Didier Drogba also saw his effort blocked by the goalkeeper.

Daniel Sturridge had Chelsea's best chance before the break, but he sent his left footed effort wide of goal from 12 yards out in the 42nd minute.Well I don't know that was pretty bad you guys. It shouldn't have been, of course - although West Bromwich Albion had a lot of the possession Chelsea had the better of the chances right up until Gareth McAuley scored off the corner. Daniel Sturridge is by and large to blame for the loss, with the England striker spurning two absolutely gilt-edged opportunities before finally getting yanked off the pitch by an exasperated Andre Villas-Boas.
